Update on Rey Mysterio

Prowrestling.com is reporting that Rey Mysterio began to look at getting out of WWE in February, when he went and asked Talent Relations executive Johnny Ace for his release. Johnny Ace apparently told Rey that this could be discussed later, so Rey went straight to Vince McMahon about it.

Sources told prowrestling.com that things haven't been right between Mysterio and Vince for some time now.

Vince apparently denied Rey's request for a release, so Rey threatened to retire. It should be noted that he has worked something out for their promotion in Mexico and for WrestleMania 27. Internally, it is being said that there is the idea floating around that Rey and Vince will patch things up like they have in the past.

Prowrestling.com is also reporting that Rey Mysterio has been offered a role in some children's movies in Mexico, and he feels he wouldn't be able to perform as his character unless WWE gives him permission to do so. It is interesting to note that former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis has been very outspoken about how WWE feels about WWE employees doing things outside of the umbrella.

Apparently, the Sin Cara thing is also worrisome to Rey, as WWE has been pushing his signing aggressively. At last word on Prowrestling.com, Sin Cara is set to debut on SmackDown, which is the brand Rey is on.

It is also interesting to note that Rey did an appearance over the weekend where he informed fans that he would not be going anywhere. Whether he is just keeping things under wraps, or he has legitimately smoothed things over with the brass remains to be seen.
